Security Locks

Car security locks are crucial for protecting vehicles against theft.

Using a combination of locks can significantly enhance security.

Car security locks are essential for preventing vehicle theft. They come in various types, each offering different levels of protection:

  1.  Steering Wheel Locks

These visible locks prevent the steering wheel from turning. Common types include:

  • Club Locks: Metal bars that latch onto the steering wheel.
  • Enclosed Locks: Devices that fully encase the steering wheel.

  1. Gear Shift Locks

These immobilize the gear lever, preventing gear changes. They often connect the gear shift to the brake or clutch pedal.

  1. Tyre and Wheel Locks

Also known as wheel clamps or "boots," these locks prevent wheels from turning, immobilizing the vehicle.

  1. Electronic Locks and Immobilizers

Modern systems include:

  • Keyless Entry Systems: Use a key fob to lock and unlock the car electronically.
  • Engine Immobilizers: Prevent the engine from starting without the correct key or fob.

  1. Hood Locks

These secure the engine compartment, preventing tampering with critical components.

  1. Door and Window Locks

Standard locks, central locking systems, and deadlocks prevent unauthorized entry.

  1. Tracking Devices and Alarms

Though not traditional locks, these add security by deterring thieves and aiding in vehicle recovery:

  • GPS Tracking Devices: Monitor the vehicle’s location in real-time.
  • Car Alarms: Emit loud noises when an intrusion is detected.
